I’m so excited to share the launch of Grade 1 Calendar Quests with you! In my classroom, I’m always looking for ways to make math engaging and meaningful for my students, and these Calendar Quests are a game-changer. They’re designed to combine the routine of calendar time with fun, hands-on activities that help kids build essential math skills. To get you started, I’ve included the first two quests as free samples that you can try out right away.
What Are Calendar Quests?
If you’re like me, you want activities that are easy to implement but pack a big punch in terms of student engagement and learning. Calendar Quests do just that. Each quest invites students to explore math concepts through patterns, problem-solving, and real-world connections. For Grade 1, these quests focus on foundational skills like counting, recognizing number patterns, and understanding how days, weeks, and months work together. They’re a perfect addition to any classroom routine, whether you’re doing number talks, morning meetings, or small group math work.
What’s Next?
I’m thrilled to say that I’m also working on Calendar Quests for Grades 2 through 5! My goal is to have the full set ready by August 2025. Each grade level will build on the previous one, giving students a seamless progression in their math learning. These quests are designed to grow with your students, helping them deepen their understanding and confidence as they go.
How to Get Started
To celebrate the launch, I’ve made the first two Grade 1 Calendar Quests available as free downloads. You can find them on my Teachers Pay Teachers store. These are the same quests I use in my classroom to kick off the school year, and my students always love them. Once you’ve tried the free samples, you can grab the full set of Grade 1 Calendar Quests on Teachers Pay Teachers. They’re perfect for keeping students engaged while reinforcing key skills—and they make planning so much easier.
Why I Love Calendar Quests
One of the best things about these quests is how versatile they are. You can use them with the whole class, in small groups, or even as a quick math warm-up. The activities are straightforward enough to get students started quickly, but they also have enough depth to challenge them and keep them coming back for more. And because they’re based on best practices and research, you can feel confident that you’re giving your students a strong foundation in math. I have created all of the Calendar Quests to align with the BC Math curriculum and they are written by a BC Teacher so you know your students are getting materials that are designed to fit them and the needs of Canadian students.
I can’t wait to hear how Calendar Quests work in your classroom. Be sure to follow my Teachers Pay Teachers store for updates as I release new resources for Grades 2-5.
